Monitoring the success of the performance of a travel agency with the Power BI tool : diploma thesis
Riste Ristov, 2022, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: In today’s times, when digitalisation is advancing in all areas, travel agencies need to follow trends to optimise their work as much as possible and stay competitive. Business information systems provide a more detailed insight into business processes and their operation, which helps monitor progress and adapt to possible changes to achieve the best results in the business world. Travel agencies need a quality business information system that helps employees shift from using basic office tools to more modern and effective systems for reporting and monitoring work performance. Data is the basis on which agencies adjust, optimise and build their business. Data is available in huge quantities and a variety of formats. Raw data that is not organised into a meaningful whole cannot bring added value to the company. The thesis aims to use Power BI as a tool for editing and integrating databases in travel agencies, as well as their visualisation and display, which is understandable for the user. With the help of the tool, we will create a report which will help the travel agency improve its business and make critical decisions that are critical for success.

Business-information system for smart homes based on Z-Wave technology : diploma thesis
David Manchevski, 2021, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: The goal of this thesis is to show how to create a system, that can be implemented in today’s market of smart home modules. This will be done by introducing how the Z-Wave technology works, how it can be implemented in the user’s home. Furthermore, the functionalities of the Z-Wave technology will be presented together with the Z-Wave modules and their everyday uses. In addition, the business-information system can put on display how a smart home company operates, how the data is distributed between the departments of said smart home company. The business-information system is shown with the help of a data flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams and a database of the data that is stored inside the particular database. This system will be used by a user interested in the buying the smart home technology products, partners, Z-wave certifiers, reclamation department.

All’interfaccia tra prosodia e struttura informativa : la realizzazione prosodica dell’informazione data in tedesco e in italiano L2
Cinzia Avesani, Giuliano Bocci, Mario Vayra, Alessandra Zappoli, 2013, published scientific conference contribution

Abstract: Germanic and Romance languages differ in the way they assign prosodic prominence within the domain of the utterance in the discourse structure. Italian relies on the hierarchical phonological structure and assigns the prosodic prominence to the metrical head on the right. On the other hand, German assigns prominence combining both the phonological structure and the pragmatic information, considering the degree of activation of a specific referent. Referents that have not been previously mentioned introduce New information in the discourse. New information is marked with prominent pitch patterns. On the contrary, referents that have been already mentioned are cognitively activated in the mind of the hearer and they represent Given information. Given information has been proven to be most frequently deaccented in Germanic languages. In this study, we show that native speakers of Italian, Second Language learners of German, show to have difficulties in the acquisition of the Deaccentuation pattern, and are affected by prosodic transfer from their L1. The L1 prosodic system not being sensitive to the pragmatic cues can assign prominence on a metrical head even if the referent is Given within Discourse. On the contrary, we show that native speakers of German, learning Italian as a second language show to acquire more easily the prosodic pattern of Italian.

Experimental syntax and Slavic languages
Arthur Stepanov, 2021, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph

Abstract: The chapter reviews a number of empirical domains that recently came into the focus of research in Slavic experimental syntax, including island phenomena, syntactic Superiority effects, various types of agreement, word order, and scope interaction, among others. This research mostly relies on sentence acceptability experiments applied across larger pools of participants, but the chapter also reviews selected studies using related experimental methods (e.g. elicited production and sentence–picture verification). The chapter concludes by identifying a number of conceptual issues in syntactic theory, for which we believe Slavic experimental syntax has a potential to make a particularly strong contribution.
