Analysis of circular economy implementation in local community
Henrik Gjerkeš, Marjana Šijanec-Zavrl, 2023, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: An analysis of the implementation of the comprehensive circular economy concept in Slovenia is presented. The concept used takes advantage of the endogenous potential of the area in which it is implemented and is aimed at the development of the forest-wood chain in the municipality of Kočevje. The results of the current 7-year implementation of the circular economy have shown a balanced fulfilment of all three dimensions of sustainable development: sustainable management of forests and products (FSC, PEFC), financial viability of operations and increased contributions to all public treasuries - even in time of crisis, more than 50 new green workplaces, increased interest of private investors, promotion of tourism, and last but not least - positive multiplicative effects on the quality of life of the citizens of Kočevje. Cyclicality is ensured in this way and the circular economy successfully fulfils its purpose.

REGIONAL POTENTIAL FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SUPPLY IN CROATIA : MASTER'S THESIS
Stefan Subotić, magistrsko delo

Opis: The master thesis aims to find the optimal model for a new energy company that considers regional potential, supports sustainable development, and fits the circular economy concept in a region. The idea of sustainable development is crucial today when we have more city areas and less countryside around the globe. Increased global population, industrial trends and modern living style are some of the reasons why the burden on our environment is more significant than ever in the history of humanity. The idea is to launch the new company in the Croatian region Osijek-Baranja, which is less developed and not attractive to tourists. A newly established company will produce electric energy from renewable energy sources. The multi-criterion decision support methods were used to determine the optimal energy source between wind, biogas and sun. Results show that the biogas has the most significant sustainable potential in chosen boundary conditions. The cash flows and other economic indicators are shown for a farm of 500 milking cows in the chosen region as a source of biogas. The risk assessments method estimated the boundaries of the company success and adaptability to possible changes. One of the critical aspects of the project is the company's organizational structure, where a vertical hierarchy with a flexible and fluid, circular organization model with network culture was proposed. Clear communication about the project will help establish trust with the local community. Based on the biogas plant, the proposed company reduces biodegradable waste in the green energy production process. It is shown quantitatively that besides being economically sustainable, it also suits the region's potential, supports energy self-supply, and involves local people - it aims to the long-term sustainable growth of the region, rather than short-term capital growth.

Addressing the debate on pronoun reversal, caused by Theory of Mind or by Echolalia?
Greta Mazzaggio, predavanje na tuji univerzi

Opis: Pronoun reversal is among the most interesting errors of early child language. It mainly consists in the substitution of I for you, and you for I; during these years, such reversal has often been associated mainly with Autistic Spectrum Disorder but recent studies have shown that the phenomena also occur in typically developing children with almost the same frequency (Evans, K.E., Demuth, K., 2012). Many theories on the cause of pronoun reversals have been proposed but the problem remains puzzling because a lot of children who reverse pronouns occasionally produce also correct forms. Moreover, it is a phenomenon which is not present in all the children (Dale, P.S., Crain- Thoreson, C., 1993). Of the two of the main hyphoteses related to pronoun reversal, one links it to a lack of a Theory of Mind (ToM), another relates it to echolalia. Based on two different surveys I conducted, I would like to address the debate. With the first study I wanted to verify whether pronoun reversals is related to a lack or to a non- mature development of ToM (Wechsler, S., 2010) testing a group of typically developing children with a series of ToM tasks ordered by a degree of complexity, from less to more complex. Then I created four tasks to verify their competence in using pronouns: focus position, pronoun with verb agreement, null form and pronouns other than first and second singular forms. We administered this experiment to a group of 17 Italian children - 38 to 70 months of age - because such tasks have never been performed before for Italian language. In this respect, Italian is more complex than English, mainly for two aspects: it’s a pro-drop language, that is a language in which some pronouns can be omitted if they are pragmatically inferable, and there is agreement between the subject pronoun and the verb, which is another factor that we must take into account. With the second study I analysed spontaneous speech uttered by a 15-years-old boy officially diagnosed with Kleefstra Syndrome and known to be a reverser, focusing on cases of pronoun reversal. At the end of the two studies I have data in favor of both ToM hypothesis and echolalia hypothesis. Further researches should verify if echolalia can be related with a lack of ToM and the differences in pronoun reversal between typically developing children and children with disorders.

The production of pronouns and verb inflections by Italian children with ASD : a new dataset in a null subject language
Greta Mazzaggio, Aaron Shield, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The language of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is often characterized by difficulties with pronouns. The underlying reasons for such difficulties are still unclear. This study is the first to test the abilities of children with ASD who speak Italian, a language in which overt subject pronouns are optional but verbs obligatorily feature person-referencing morphology. We found that Italian children with ASD were less accurate than typically-developing (TD) Italian children in the production of first-, second-, and third-person singular pronouns, avoiding pronouns in favor of nouns or names more often than controls. Moreover, children with ASD produced more overt pronouns than null pronouns in marked contexts, compared to TD children. These phenomena can be accounted for by difficulties with pragmatics.

Ad-hoc and scalar implicatures in children with autism spectrum disorder
Greta Mazzaggio, Francesca Foppolo, Remo Job, Luca Surian, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Previous studies found that people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) perform well on pragmatic inference tests that require the use of the linguistic scale . The present study extends previous research by testing two types of implicature: scalar implicatures, based on lexical scales, and ad-hoc implicatures, based on contextual scales. We tested 26 children with ASD aged 4–10 years (mean age 7.1) and 26 typically developing (TD) children – matched on chronological age and with a similar performance in non- verbal IQ and vocabulary – by means of a picture selection task for scalar and ad-hoc implica- tures. We also investigated the effect of children’s scores in standardized tests measuring non- verbal intelligence, lexical, and morphosyntactic abilities and Theory-of-Mind skills on their performance in the implicature tasks. Although more than half of the children with ASD performed above chance on both kinds of implicatures, their performance as a group was significantly lower than the performance of their TD peers. General cognitive abilities were found to affect the performance of children with ASD on both kinds of implicatures, and Theory-of-Mind reasoning skills were found to be linked to their performance on scalar, but not ad-hoc implicatures. We show that children with ASD have difficulty with both kinds of implicatures. These findings may have implications for explanatory theories of pragmatics as well as for clinical work with children with ASD.

The need of a development assessment index for e-governance in India
Rajan Gupta, Sunil K. Muttoo, Saibal K. Pal, 2017, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: The purpose of this paper is to discuss and argue on the need of an assessment framework for the development of E-Governance services & practices in various states of India. This can be used to compare the states against each other so as to evaluate their status as per the national & international standards. The study is exploratory in nature as it develops arguments over an Index based on combination of theory, past literature and international reports w.r.t. E-Governance services and associated available infrastructure. It considers research papers from 2000-2015 and major reports on E-Governance after 2006. The need to develop an index based on different parameters is identified. The major areas to be covered up in the development index are online availability and performance of E-Governance service, telecommunication infrastructure, human capital, infrastructure availability and electronic participation by the citizens. Other areas are security and ease of access of the services. Development Index formulation will suggest that the development status for various Indian states, w.r.t. E-Governance, is based on lot of factors like the geographical location, demographic distribution, quality of human resources, and infrastructure present. A state merely having large number of E-Governance services does not become an automatic choice of best state for E-Governance development in the country. The state should be able to justify the overall development rather than being beneficial to just a small section of its population. Indian national E-Governance plan needs to assess the weak zones of the country so as to take initiatives to upgrade them and bid for overall higher ranking in the E-Governance Development Index of United Nations. There is no overall quantitative assessment framework available for E-Governance development in India as of now. So this research is novel with respect to E-Governance development and its assessment.

Data Analytics based Techniques for Improvement of E-Governance in Developing Nations
Rajan Gupta, 2019, prispevek na konferenci brez natisa

Opis: United Nation’s E-Governance Development Index is a development assessment index for all the nations around on the E-Governance front. Every country is ranked on the basis of a quantitative parameter derived out of few important components. But such development assessment index is missing at regional level in a country so that regional development can be assessed and work can be monitored. Few countries have local assessment models but are not exhaustive enough which can be used for development assessment and further development plan formation. Therefore, there is a need for this study to develop such assessment framework and develop approaches to have a meaningful contribution in improvement of E-Governance in the country at regional level. After the assessment of the regions on the development front of E-Governance, the improvement techniques must be defined for the weak parameters, so that regional development can be enhanced. For the experiment purpose, India has been chosen as the experiment country for which datasets has been used from Indian E-Governance transactions. This problem is important to be addressed because an overall quantitative measure of E-Governance development of the country will help in improving overall E-Governance rankings at world level, attract better investors, and will help the government to prepare a more inclusive plan on the development front. Most of the studies in literature are citizen centric and thus are not fit for development assessment. The current study has not only developed a framework but has also analyzed various components related to it in detail and suggested the way ahead for E-Governance in the country
