Dynamic route map generation scheme for mobiles : M-governance application framework for tourism & travel in Delhi, India
Rajan Gupta, Sunil K. Muttoo, Saibal K. Pal, 2016, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Easiness of public & tourist's travel within a city is an important task for central and State Government. They have to access a combination of public transport options like metros, trams, buses and private options like cabs services and hired vehicles. Delhi, being the capital city of India, enjoys the usage of public transport by millions of travelers. Currently all route information on mobile applications (be it public or private) are static in nature which does not recommend any route to follow. This paper proposes such an application where travelling gets easier based on real time route map generation for using public transport like Bus and Metro services. The client-server based 3-tier architecture has been used for the mobile application designing. The application scores high on ease of travelling and customization of the routes through recommendations as compared to static application.

Smart phones, smarter marketing: suggesting strategies through smart phones in India
Rajan Gupta, Saibal K. Pal, Saibal K. Pal, 2012, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Marketing via mobile phones, commonly known as Mobile (m)-Marketing, includes advertising, promotions, direct marketing and customer relationship management using mobile calls or mobile media like SMS and MMS. With over two billion mobile users currently available all over the world and a significant percentage switching to smart phones, marketers now have new opportunities to target users of such devices. This paper focuses on identifying and designing marketing strategies for different sectors and product/service categories in India using these smart devices and available services. Primary data collection has been carried out by interviewing marketing and store managers and also by collecting responses from users. We identify sectors like banking & financial services, education, health, real estate, airlines, tourism and hospitality and suggest interesting marketing opportunities for the mobile platform. We believe that these initiatives would open up new channels for customer engagement, branding, advertising and product promotion. We also feel that with regular addition of new players, the future holds bright for brands coming together, selling together and marketing together in the smartest possible way.

Click-through rate estimation using CHAID classification tree model : case study of direct benefit transfer in India
Rajan Gupta, Saibal K. Pal, 2019, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Click-Through Rate (CTR) is referred to as the number of clicks on a particular advertisement as compared to the number of impressions on it. It is an important measure to find the effectiveness of any online advertising campaign. The effectiveness of online advertisements through calculations of ROI can be done through the measurement of CTR. There are multiple ways of detecting CTR in past; however, this study focuses on machine learning based classification model. Important parameters are judged on the basis of user behavior toward online ads and CHAID tree model is used to classify the pattern for successful and unsuccessful clicks. The model is implemented using SPSS version 21.0. The dataset used for the testing has been taken from Kaggle website as the data is from anonymous company’s ad campaign given to Kaggle for research purpose. A total of 83.8% accuracy is reported for the classification model used. This implies that CHAID can be used for less critical problems where very high stakes are not involved. This study is useful for online marketers and analytics professionals for assessing the CHAID model’s performance in online advertising world.

Understanding fraudulent activities through m-commerce transactions
Rajan Gupta, Sunil K. Muttoo, Saibal K. Pal, 2016, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Technology changes its facet quicker than anything else. Every few years there is a revolution that changes the way we perceive technology and the way it impacts our lives. Mobile commerce industry has been swiftly bringing about an alteration in how we access the wireless network and marks a shift from personal computers to mobile devices. This chapter gives an outline of mobile commerce and will discuss about the various frauds prevalent on the internet and on mobiles specifically, and ways in which it can be curbed. The purpose of this chapter will be to make readers aware of the different types of fraudulent activities that can occur due to m-commerce transactions and their possible solutions will be elaborated at the end. The work will be beneficial for the students as well as researchers to form a basic background about m-commerce, various risks associated with it and their possible solutions.

Performance of microAethalometers: Real-world Field Intercomparisons from Multiple Mobile Measurement Campaigns in Different Atmospheric Environments
Honey Alas, Thomas Mueller, Kay Weinhold, Sascha Pfeifer, Kristina Glojek, Asta Gregorič, Griša Močnik, Luka Drinovec, Francesca Costabile, Martina Ristorini, A. Wiedensohler, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Small aethalometers are frequently used to measure equivalent black carbon (eBC) mass concentrations in the context of personal exposure and air pollution mapping through mobile measurements (MM). The most widely used is the microAethalometer (AE51). Its performance in the laboratory and field is well documented, however, there is not sufficient data in the context of its performance in different environments. In this investigation, we present the characterization of the performance of the AE51 through field unit-to-unit intercomparisons (IC), and against a reference absorption photometer from three MM campaigns conducted in drastically different environments. Five IC parameters were considered: i) study area, ii) location of IC, iii) time of day, iv) duration of IC, and v) correction for the filter-loading effect. We can conclude that it is crucial where and how long the IC have been performed in terms of the correlation between the mobile and reference instruments. Better correlations (R2 > 0.8, slope = 0.8) are achieved for IC performed in rural, and background areas for more than 10 minutes. In locations with more homogenous atmosphere, the correction of the loading effect improved the correlation between the mobile and reference instruments. In addition, a newer microAethalometer model (MA200) was characterized in the field under extreme cold conditions and correlated against another MA200 (R2 > 0.8, slope ≈ 1.0), AE51(R2 > 0.9, slope ≈ 0.9), and a stationary Aethalometer (AE33) across all wavelengths (R2 > 0.8, slope ≈ 0.7). For MA200, the loading effect was more pronounced, especially at the lower wavelengths, hence the correction of the loading effect is essential to improve the correlation against the AE33. The MA200 and AE51 proved to be robust and dependable portable instruments for MM applications. Real-world quality assurance of these instruments should be performed through field IC against reference instruments with longer durations in areas of slowly changing eBC concentration.

Short-range urban dispersion experiments using fixed and moving sources
Dudley E. Shallcross, Damien Martin, Catheryn S Price, Graham Nickless, Iain R. White, Fredrik Petterson, Rex E Britter, Marina K Neophytou, James Tate, Alison S Tomlin, Stephen E Belcher, Janet F Barlow, Alan Robins, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Four perfluorocarbon tracer dispersion experiments were carried out in central London, United Kingdom in 2004. These experiments were supplementary to the dispersion of air pollution and penetration into the local environment (DAPPLE) campaign and consisted of ground level releases, roof level releases and mobile releases; the latter are believed to be the first such experiments to be undertaken. A detailed description of the experiments including release, sampling, analysis and wind observations is given. The characteristics of dispersion from the fixed and mobile sources are discussed and contrasted, in particular, the decay in concentration levels away from the source location and the additional variability that results from the non-uniformity of vehicle speed.
