Monitoring the success of the performance of a travel agency with the Power BI tool : diploma thesis
Riste Ristov, 2022, diplomsko delo

Opis: In today’s times, when digitalisation is advancing in all areas, travel agencies need to follow trends to optimise their work as much as possible and stay competitive. Business information systems provide a more detailed insight into business processes and their operation, which helps monitor progress and adapt to possible changes to achieve the best results in the business world. Travel agencies need a quality business information system that helps employees shift from using basic office tools to more modern and effective systems for reporting and monitoring work performance. Data is the basis on which agencies adjust, optimise and build their business. Data is available in huge quantities and a variety of formats. Raw data that is not organised into a meaningful whole cannot bring added value to the company. The thesis aims to use Power BI as a tool for editing and integrating databases in travel agencies, as well as their visualisation and display, which is understandable for the user. With the help of the tool, we will create a report which will help the travel agency improve its business and make critical decisions that are critical for success.

Analysing security checkpoints for an integrated utility-based information system
Sunil K. Muttoo, Rajan Gupta, Saibal K. Pal, 2016, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: With the rising digital medium, the various digital applications are rising too. These applications can work in the private domain or public domain depending upon the environment and features. Of late, the public infrastructure in India is improving and thus digitisation of the services and processes are making it better for the government to function. Lots of new services and applications are planned through desktop-and mobile-based information systems. But any information system requires a good security cover for it to function correctly and efficiently. One such new system was proposed for integrating the various utility systems in Delhi, NCR, for which various security checkpoints are discussed in this paper. These are related to database security, network security, cryptography, and the user authentication process. These checkpoints will be helpful in making the newly proposed information system more secure and will also be helpful in analysing the need and scope of new security features in it. Security concerns are analysed at different levels of the information system and suggestions are made for the system which can be implemented in the currently proposed system. These suggestions can also be used in other similar systems as well as for improving and enhancing security at various levels.

Implementation & analysis of integrated utility system in developing nation like India
Rajan Gupta, Sunil K. Muttoo, Saibal K. Pal, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Public utility systems are prevalent around the world but are struggling in developing nations like India to work efficiently. Integration of different utilities can be a possible solution on the technology front, so that more requests can be handled with lesser problems. This study provides the implementation design and benefits of an already proposed integration system by the same authors. It is found that Data Storage, Access Time, Transaction Cost, security cost and server’s busy time can become more effective if the implementation of integration system can be put in place. The working prototype is based on three utilities (Gas, Power & Water) of Delhi-NCR, India.

Building the shared dimension of the rural landscape: tools, principles and methods : An integrated approach to conservation and management of the rural landscape in Venice and its Lagoon
Caterina Groli, 2016, doktorska disertacija

Opis: This research investigates the rural landscape of the lagoon of Venice and its surrounding territory focusing on the forms of exploitation of its natural resources, the transformations that occurred throughout the course of history and the consequent formation of its primary economical sector. New economic sectors, new agricultural policies and other spatial and sectorial drivers transformed the primary sector itself which changed and adapted its productive schemes to the main economic patterns, heavily affecting the former rural asset of the landscape of the lagoon by changing its demographic, economic activities and land use practices. The study carries out a systematic and detailed analysis of all economic, cultural and social features that have interacted and impacted this specific landscape, relying mainly on the comparison of historical and current land-use maps through three different historical spans: 1823-1840 (pre-industrialization phase), 1933-1966 (industrializing process, considered as a determining factor of the transformation of this landscape) and 2013 (present post-industrialized condition). The maps, combined with relative data, are compared with the aid of the Geographical Information System (GIS) computer software. As a result, a set of new maps has been obtained, which point out the historical landscape permanencies, defined through in situ surveys on the territory. A multitude of other archival documents from direct and indirect sources have been examined in order to build up a sound and detailed socio-economic context and the overall historical background. Resources, goods and services provided by the rural landscape and its development are an important part of regional and EU policy instruments and also an essential factor of identity and growth for local communities. The consumption of resources, their availability and maintenance over time and accessibility through property regulations are all factors that shape the common and public dimension of the rural landscape, which represents another study challenge of this work. This study proposes the establishment of the rural park of the lagoon of Venice, through the implementation of the multi-functional role of agriculture, for the fulfilment of two fundamental conditions of the peri-urban rurality: the need of safeguarding the landscape and its significance, by preserving the authenticity and integrity of the rural characters and the dynamism of the primary sector, which is strictly related to the survival of the rural landscape.
