Title:Ovrednotenje vpliva eksperimentalnih dejavnikov na izmerjene vrednosti respiracijske aktivnosti AT4

Abstract:Pri ravnanju z odpadki se v zadnjem času povečuje delež ločeno zbranih odpadkov in mehansko-biološko obdelanih odpadkov s snovno izrabo, ločenih na posamezne frakcije. Preostanek odpadkov po obdelavi odlagamo še vedno pretežno na odlagalno polje. Merilo za odlaganje je stopnja stabilizacije odpadka. Stopnja stabilizacije odpadkov, ki jih odlagamo na odlagalno polje, in stopnja stabilizacije obdelanih biološko razgradljivih odpadkov v kompostu je opredeljena z zakonodajo. Eden od najpogosteje uporabljenih parametrov, ki opredeljujejo stopnjo stabilizacije je respiracijska aktivnost AT4. V teoretičnem delu sem predstavila kompostiranje: klasifikacijo presnove, način kompostiranja in dejavnike kompostiranja. Predstavila sem respiracijsko aktivnost, napravo za določanje respiracijske aktivnosti in pripravo vzorca. V raziskavi sem kot osrednjo eksperimentalno metodo uporabila določanje respiracijske aktivnosti AT4 po standardnem postopku z uporabo Sapromat respirometra, ki deluje z neskončno preseženo količino kisika. V skladu s standardno metodo za določanje respiracijske aktivnosti AT4 so predvidena različna ravnanja z vzorci. V sklopu magistrske naloge sem preverila vpliv različnih dejavnikov na rezultate standardne AT4 opredelitve. Proučila sem vpliv velikosti delcev, vlage, naravnega staranja in različnega hranjenja vzorca na rezultat. Uporabila sem vzorce realnih frakcij komunalnih odpadkov (težka frakcija), digestata, komposta in sintetičnega komposta kot referenčnega materiala. Prikazala sem rezultate meritev AT4 sintetičnega komposta, izdelanega po standardni recepturi, enakih pogojev zorenja in enake strukture kompostne mase. Ponovitve izdelave sintetičnega komposta se razlikujejo po času zorenja, vlažnosti, načinu hranjenja in vrsti komposta kot inokuluma. Prikazala sem vpliv temperature, pH, zračnosti, vlažnosti in načina hranjenja na rezultat respiracijske aktivnosti AT4; prav tako tudi poskus stabilizacije, laboratorijskega vzorca težke frakcije mešanih komunalnih odpadkov z dodatkom inertnega materiala in zvišanjem pH vrednosti.

Title:EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF EXPERIMENTAL FACTORS ON MEASURED AT4 RESPIRATORY ACTIVITY
Abstract:The current trend in waste management is towards increasing the amount of separately collected and mechanically and biologically treated waste with high material utilisation (recycling) of the individual fractions. After treatment, the remaining waste is still mostly deposited in landfills. A measure for landfilling is the degree of waste stabilisation. The degree of waste stabilisation, that is deposited in landfill and the degree of stabilisation of biologically treated waste in compost, are defined by law. One of the most frequently used parameters to define the degree of waste stabilization is the respiration activity AT4. In the theoretical part of this master’s thesis, I presented composting: classification of metabolism, mode of composting and the main factors influencing this process. I presented respiration activity, the equipment used to determine respiration activity and sample preparation methods. The main experimental method I used in my research was determination of respiration activity AT4, using the Sapromat respirometer and following a standard-defined procedure, which operates with an infinite amount of excess oxygen. In accordance with the standard method for determining respiratory activity AT4, different sample handling procedures are allowed. As part of the master's thesis I examined the impact of various factors on the results of AT4 measurements. I examined the effect of particle size, moisture, and the natural aging and different storage of the sample on the results. I used samples of real fractions of municipal waste (heavy fraction), digestate, compost and synthetic compost as a reference material. Results include AT4 measurements of synthetic compost, prepared using a standard specification under identical maturing conditions and composition of compost mass. The various synthetic composts prepared, differed according to times of aging, moisture content, storing method, and the composition of the compost as well as the inoculum. I showed the influence of temperature, pH, aeration, humidity and feeding protocol on the results of respiratory activity as well as the attempt to stabilize laboratory samples of the heavy fraction of mixed municipal waste by the addition of inert material and by increasing pH.
