A catalog of the highest-energy cosmic rays recorded during Phase I of operation of the Pierre Auger Observatory
A. Abdul Halim, Andrej Filipčič, Jon Paul Lundquist, Shima Ujjani Shivashankara, Samo Stanič, Serguei Vorobiov, Danilo Zavrtanik, Marko Zavrtanik, 2023, original scientific article

Abstract: A catalog containing details of the highest-energy cosmic rays recorded through the detection of extensive air showers at the Pierre Auger Observatory is presented with the aim of opening the data to detailed examination. Descriptions of the 100 showers created by the highest-energy particles recorded between 2004 January 1 and 2020 December 31 are given for cosmic rays that have energies in the range 78–166 EeV. Details are also given on a further nine very energetic events that have been used in the calibration procedure adopted to determine the energy of each primary. A sky plot of the arrival directions of the most energetic particles is shown. No interpretations of the data are offered.

AutoSourceID-Light : Fast optical source localization via U-Net and Laplacian of Gaussian
F. Stoppa, P. Vreeswijk, S. Bloemen, Saptashwa Bhattacharyya, S Caron, G. Jóhannesson, R. Ruiz de Austri, C. Van den Oetelaar, Gabrijela Zaharijas, P.J. Groot, E. Cator, G. Nelemans, 2022, original scientific article

Abstract: Aims: With the ever-increasing survey speed of optical wide-field telescopes and the importance of discovering transients when they are still young, rapid and reliable source localization is paramount. We present AutoSourceID-Light (ASID-L), an innovative framework that uses computer vision techniques that can naturally deal with large amounts of data and rapidly localize sources in optical images. Methods: We show that the ASID-L algorithm based on U-shaped networks and enhanced with a Laplacian of Gaussian filter provides outstanding performance in the localization of sources. A U-Net network discerns the sources in the images from many different artifacts and passes the result to a Laplacian of Gaussian filter that then estimates the exact location. Results: Using ASID-L on the optical images of the MeerLICHT telescope demonstrates the great speed and localization power of the method. We compare the results with SExtractor and show that our method outperforms this more widely used method rapidly detects more sources not only in low and mid-density fields, but particularly in areas with more than 150 sources per square arcminute. The training set and code used in this paper are publicly available.

Monitoring the success of the performance of a travel agency with the Power BI tool : diploma thesis
Riste Ristov, 2022, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: In today’s times, when digitalisation is advancing in all areas, travel agencies need to follow trends to optimise their work as much as possible and stay competitive. Business information systems provide a more detailed insight into business processes and their operation, which helps monitor progress and adapt to possible changes to achieve the best results in the business world. Travel agencies need a quality business information system that helps employees shift from using basic office tools to more modern and effective systems for reporting and monitoring work performance. Data is the basis on which agencies adjust, optimise and build their business. Data is available in huge quantities and a variety of formats. Raw data that is not organised into a meaningful whole cannot bring added value to the company. The thesis aims to use Power BI as a tool for editing and integrating databases in travel agencies, as well as their visualisation and display, which is understandable for the user. With the help of the tool, we will create a report which will help the travel agency improve its business and make critical decisions that are critical for success.

Comparison of Effectiveness between Traditional and Digital Marketing in a Selected Company
Veronika Stoilkovska, 2022, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: The thesis contains the differences between traditional and digital marketing, a comparison between the advantages and disadvantages for both marketing methods, types of channels they have, methods of calculating the effectiveness of both methods and research to show how theory can be put into application in the real world, and what kind of results come out. The research is based on data from a selected company, Bolton Adriatic d.o.o., where there are consumer brands from three types of industries: house cleaning brand, food brand, and personal care brand. These brands are introduced by traditional ways of marketing, digital ways of marketing, and both marketing ways. The goal of the research is to show the performance of different channels in the year of 2020. The approach to the research is secondary based. Quantitative data was gathered from archives and analysed further into descriptive representation.

Business-information system for smart homes based on Z-Wave technology : diploma thesis
David Manchevski, 2021, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: The goal of this thesis is to show how to create a system, that can be implemented in today’s market of smart home modules. This will be done by introducing how the Z-Wave technology works, how it can be implemented in the user’s home. Furthermore, the functionalities of the Z-Wave technology will be presented together with the Z-Wave modules and their everyday uses. In addition, the business-information system can put on display how a smart home company operates, how the data is distributed between the departments of said smart home company. The business-information system is shown with the help of a data flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams and a database of the data that is stored inside the particular database. This system will be used by a user interested in the buying the smart home technology products, partners, Z-wave certifiers, reclamation department.

Analysing security checkpoints for an integrated utility-based information system
Sunil K. Muttoo, Rajan Gupta, Saibal K. Pal, 2016, published scientific conference contribution

Abstract: With the rising digital medium, the various digital applications are rising too. These applications can work in the private domain or public domain depending upon the environment and features. Of late, the public infrastructure in India is improving and thus digitisation of the services and processes are making it better for the government to function. Lots of new services and applications are planned through desktop-and mobile-based information systems. But any information system requires a good security cover for it to function correctly and efficiently. One such new system was proposed for integrating the various utility systems in Delhi, NCR, for which various security checkpoints are discussed in this paper. These are related to database security, network security, cryptography, and the user authentication process. These checkpoints will be helpful in making the newly proposed information system more secure and will also be helpful in analysing the need and scope of new security features in it. Security concerns are analysed at different levels of the information system and suggestions are made for the system which can be implemented in the currently proposed system. These suggestions can also be used in other similar systems as well as for improving and enhancing security at various levels.
