Analiza pomenov lobanje v umetnosti in vizualni kulturi

Abstract: V diplomski nalogi se posvečam semiotični analizi filma s poudarkom na različnih pomenih znaka lobanje. Slednja simbolizira središčni element v kratkem animiranem filmu Naglodane kosti (2022). Semiotika je veda, ki se ukvarja z znaki, ki pa so ključni gradniki filmske komunikacije. Moj teoretični prispevek temelji na predstavitvi glavnih tem semiotike ter bolj specifično pomena lobanje v animiranem filmu. V ta namen sem se opirala na konkretne primere iz animiranih filmov ter na lastno diplomsko delo. Lobanja, ki se pojavlja kot vizualni element glavnega lika in antagonista Rema, nosi v našem kontekstu poseben pomen. Gre za lobanjo ovna, ki simbolizira demona ter prinaša asociacije na smrt. Lobanja prav tako nosi negativno energijo, ki se povezuje z likom.Namen diplome je prikazati kronološki razvoj uporabe lobanje v umetnosti. Hkrati pa me zanima, ali je lobanja vedno povezana zgolj s smrtjo in negativnimi čustvi. Kateri so drugi razlogi za uporabo lobanje in kako lahko razumemo ter tolmačimo njene druge plati, ob dejstvu, da je že od samega začetka človeštvo lobanjo povezovalo s smrtjo in uničenjem.

Animirani film kot didaktični pripomoček

Abstract: Teoretični del diplomske naloge obravnava vpliv digitalne dobe na izobraževanje in poudarja potrebo po prilagajanju učiteljev spreminjajočim se učnim slogom učencev, ki vključujejo več gledanja audiovideo. Raziskuje možnosti uporabe animacije kot didaktičnega pripomočka za učinkovito razlago kompleksnih konceptov. Čeprav ima animacija prednosti pri izboljšanju učnih izkušenj, predstavlja tudi izzive pri ustvarjanju vsebin in primernosti. Cilj teoretične naloge je najti ravnotežje z združitvijo teorije učenja in likovnimi lastnostmi animacije za ustvarjanje optimalnih izobraževalnih gradiv. Praktični del diplomske naloge je animirani film za otroke, ki se preko teme evolucije ukvarja z vprašanjem, kakšen odnos imamo, kot ljudje do narave. Film je narejen v tehniki stop animacije, z uporabo kolaža in zelenega zaslona.

Priložnosti za mlade ustvarjalce animiranih filmov v Evropi

Abstract: Diplomska naloga je razdeljena na tri dele. Prvi del opisuje priložnosti, kot so delavnice in umetniške rezidence za mlade ustvarjalce na področju animiranega filma v Evropi. V tem delu bom razjasnil pomen delavnic in umetniških rezidenc ter njun namen. Predstavil bom primere delavnic in rezidenc, katerih sem se udeležil, ter vključil lastno refleksijo. Poudaril bom delavnico DSAF Inkubator, Animation Sans Frontières, CEE Rise & Shine ter scenaristično delavnico Kratka Scena. Prvi del bom zaključil s predstavitvijo umetniške rezidence Open Workshop. V drugem delu se bom poglobil v filmske festivale in animacijske forume. To so izkušnje, ki so predvsem osredotočene na mreženje. Predstavil bom dva največja animacijska foruma v Evropi, CEE Animation Forum in Cartoon Forum. Sledila bo predstavitev svetovno znanih festivalov animiranega filma, kot sta Annecy in Animafest Zagreb, ter festivalov v Sloveniji, kot sta Animateka in StopTrik. Poglavje o festivalih se zaključi z omembo ostalih pomembnih festivalov v Evropi. V tretjem delu se bom osredotočil na praktični del diplomskega dela, kratki animirani film Kurent. To poglavje je razdeljeno na štiri dele: predprodukcijo, produkcijo, postprodukcijo in dosežke. V predprodukciji bom razjasnil, od kod izhaja ideja. V produkciji se bom poglobil v ustvarjalni proces filma. V postprodukciji bom predstavil sodelovanje z dvema postprodukcijskima hišama (NuFrame in Zvokarna). Nalogo bom zaključil z dosežki filma. S tem bom povezal vse tri dele in tvoril celoto.

Time-of-flight photoconductivity investigation of high charge carrier mobility in Ti3C2Tx MXenes thin-film

Abstract: Charge transport through a randomly oriented multilayered network of two-dimensional (2D) Ti3C2Tx (where Tx is the surface termination and corresponds to O, OH and F) was studied using time-of-flight photoconductivity (TOFP) method, which is highly sensitive to the distribution of charge carrier velocities. We prepared samples comprising Ti3C2Tx with thickness of 12 nm or 6-monolayers. MXene flakes of size up to 16 μm were randomly deposited on the surface by spin-coating from water solution. Using TOFP, we have measured electron mobility that reached values up to 279 cm2/Vs and increase with electric-field in a Poole-Frenkel manner. These values are approximately 50 times higher than previously reported field-effect mobility. Interestingly, our zero-electric-field extrapolate approaches electron mobility measured using terahertz absorption method, which represents intra-flake transport. Our data suggest that macroscopic charge transport is governed by two distinct mechanisms. The high mobility values are characteristic for the intra-flake charge transport via the manifold of delocalized states. On the other hand, the observed Poole-Frenkel dependence of charge carrier mobility on the electric field is typical for the disordered materials and suggest the existence of an important contribution of inter-flake hopping to the overall charge transport.

Italian Humanist Photography from Fascism to the Cold War

Abstract: Spanning four decades of radical political and social change in Italy, this interdisciplinary study explores photography’s relationship with Italian painting, film, literature, anthropological research and international photography. Evocative and powerful, Italian social documentary photography from the 1930s to the 1960s is a rich source of cultural history, reflecting a time of dramatic change. This book shows, through a wide range of images (some published for the first time) that to fully understand the photography of this period we must take a more expansive view than scholars have applied to date, considering issues of propaganda, aesthetics, religion, national identity and international influences. By setting Italian photography against a backdrop of social documentary and giving it a distinctive place in the global history of photography, this exciting volume of original research is of interest to art historians and scholars of Italian and visual culture studies.

Učinek srhljive doline v animaciji

Abstract: Kaj je resnično in kaj ne, kaj nam je lepo in kaj grdo, kaj je preveč in kaj premalo? Vse to so vprašanja, ki si jih zastavlja človek že od samega začetka. Naj bo to v načinu življenja, vizualni podobi, elektronskih virih in nenazadnje tudi v industriji zabave – filmu ter animaciji. Diplomsko delo se posveča pojavom srhljive doline (ang. Uncanny Valley) predvsem v animaciji. Anima pomeni v latinščini »duša«, animare pa »vdihniti dušo«. Preverili bomo, kaj definira fenomen srhljive doline, zakaj do njega sploh pride ter kako se mu izogniti, če je to sploh mogoče. Glede na prej zastavljena vprašanja bomo v pregled vzeli svetovno znane animacijske studie (Pixar, DreamWorks, Illumination, Disney) ter raziskali, kako se s tem fenomenom spopadajo oziroma kako ga zaobidejo in se mu izognejo. S pomočjo analiz starejših in novejših filmov igrano-animirane zvrsti bomo na koncu diplomskega dela lažje sledili razvojni poti zajčice Juno, ene izmed likov v kratkem diplomskem igranem filmu s stop animacijo z naslovom Ti.

Gib in telo

Abstract: Pričujoče diplomsko delo je razdeljeno na dva dela. V prvem delu bomo raziskali pomen giba, njegovo definicijo in deljenje gibov glede na dele telesa. Zatem se bomo posvetili gibu v gledališču in se vrnili na začetek, ko igra še ni obstajala. Omenili bomo Tepsisa, tako imenovanega prvega igralca. Temu bo sledila primerjava gledališke in filmske igre. Sprva bomo primerjali sam medij, kako se sporočilo, ki ga igralci uprizorijo, širi do gledalcev. Nato pa bomo primerjali omenjeni igri ter na kaj vse morajo biti igralci pripravljeni med samo izvedbo akcije. V delu, ki je namenjen filmu, bomo usmerili pozornost tudi na odnos kamere in igralca. Definirali bomo tri poglede: pogled kamere, pogled gledalca in medsebojni pogled igralcev, kot tudi subjektivni pogled, ki je kameri in igralcu do neke mere skupen. Po omembi filmskih planov bomo prešli na gib v animaciji. Začeli bomo s kratko predstavitvijo ter tudi predstavili dve tehniki: lutkovno animacijo in piksilacijo. Raziskali bomo tudi pomen tempiranja, ki je močno povezano z gibom v animaciji. V drugem delu se bomo osredotočili na praktični del diplomskega dela, animirani film Bela, črna in prava ljubezen. To poglavje bomo razdelili na tri dele: predprodukcijo, produkcijo in postprodukcijo. Začeli bomo z idejo, kreativno platjo in nadaljevali s tehnično. Na tem mestu bomo opisali pripravo in proces snemanja. V poglavju Postprodukcija bomo podrobno govorili o montaži, barvni korekciji in ustvarjanju zvoka. Na koncu diplomskega dela bomo predstavili dosežke filma, ter navedli sodelujoče, ki so pripomogli k izdelavi animacije.

Deposition of porphyrin thin films by electrophoresis

Abstract: Porphyrins are heterocyclic macrocycles consisting of interconnected pyrrole subunits acting as ligands for metal ions. Metallised metalloporphyrins naturally occur as cofactors in a series of enzymes, acting as active sites for biochemical transformations. Mimicking nature, a variety of functionalized porphyrins have been prepared for different catalytic purposes [1]. These organometallic complexes have isolated metal centers in tailored coordination environments to drive catalytic reactions in homogeneous solutions. The activity and selectivity of isolated metal ions acting as single-atom catalysts are defined by the coordination environment. Depending on the porphyrin structure, the solubility of these macrocycles and their processability in solutions can be altered. While such adjustments to the structure might ease the processability, the catalytic properties might also be altered. Because homogenous catalysis presents challenges with the separation and recyclability of the catalyst, it is common to fix metalloporphyrins into molecular organic frameworks or deposit them onto a substrate. Commonly used deposition techniques face several challenges. For instance, thermal evaporation can cause partial or complete degradation of some thermally-labile functional groups attached to the porphyrins. Similarly, spin coating commonly results in an uneven thickness and uneven morphology of the deposited films. To overcome these difficulties, we present an alternative method for the deposition of porphyrin thin films that is suitable for a wide range of functionalized porphyrins. The electrophoresis can force the molecules to deposit on a conductive substrate such as a metal foil or transparent conductive oxide by applying the electric field generated by a DC power supply. The film thickness can be precisely controlled by changing the voltage value, deposition time, or solution concentration using even a small amount of material [2, 3]. Six different functionalized porphyrin molecules have been successfully deposited onto the copper foil substrate by optimizing key parameters, including applied electric field, the duration of electrophoresis, the size of the copper electrodes, and solvent polarity. To demonstrate the generality of our approach, we have selected a broad range of porphyrins that incorporate the following functional groups: phenyl rings, carboxylic acids, pyridyl rings, methyl benzyl ethers, methyl benzoyl esters, and cobalt (II) metalized macrocycle. The impact of this study extends above catalysis to various applications of porphyrins thin films on conductive substrates such as optoelectronics and sensors.
