DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SUPERVISORY MODULE AS PART OF A SYSTEM FOR CONDITION MONITORING AND CONTROL OF SOLID OXIDE ELECTROLYSIS CELL SYSTEMS
Amina Uglješa, 2023, magistrsko delo

Opis: Hydrogen is playing an important role in many sectors of modern economy (green vehicles, energy conversion and storage in electrical grids, processing industry). Solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) is an emerging technology for the production of hydrogen from steam and electrical energy as well as for renewable energies storage. Unfortunately, operating at high current and electrical transients cause degradation that leads to premature end of life. A remedy is to implement a hardware module capable to perform online condition monitoring and optimization of SOEC systems resulting in improved overall performance and extended lifetime. That is expected to significantly expand their deployment on the market. However, very little has been done so far. The H2020 project REACTT seems to be one of the first attempts to build an embedded system for monitoring, diagnosis, prognostics, and control (MDPC) for SOEC system. The underlying master's thesis contributes to the REACTT project in the segment related to the supervision of different modules of the MDPC system. The supervisor module is aimed to orchestrate the operation of various functional modules (agents) such as data acquisition, system optimization, diagnosis, prognostics, and mitigation. The thesis focuses on the design of the supervisor module and its implementation on a control platform based on Raspberry Pi 4. The main contributions of the thesis are twofold. First, the dynamic operation of the supervisor modelled by using the state transition diagram (STD). Second, the code for implementation of the supervisor on the target platform done in Python in a way that complies with the requirements imposed in the project.

Development of prototype of electronic speckle interferometry based spirometer
Mohanachandran Nair Sindhu Swapna, KUMAR ARUN, KUMAR SUNIL, SREEJYOTHI S, RAJ VIMAL, SANKARARAMAN SANKARANARAYANA IYER, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The paper reports the design, construction, and calibration of the prototype of a spirometer based on electronic speckle interferometry (ESPI). The conventional ESPI setup is modified by incorporating a DNM (Diaphragm-Nozzle-Mouthpiece) module comprising a metallic diaphragm, regulated airflow channel, and a mouthpiece. The exhaled air after a deep breathe is channelled to the DNM module where the diaphragm gets deformed. From the circular fringe pattern obtained by subtracting the speckled images before and after deformation of the metallic diaphragm, the radius of curvature (R) due to deformation is calculated using the principle of Newton’s rings. The value of R and peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) from the standard spirometer reading are correlated. From the 640 observations spread over the range 100 - 500 L/min in the standard spirometer, an empirical relation is set in terms of R from the scatter plot. The ESPI spirometer (ESPIS) is validated by determining the value of R corresponding to a particular PEFR from the empirical relation and also from the standard spirometer. The PEFR calculated from ESPIS matches well with the standard spirometer reading, which suggests that the system designed and constructed can be used for biomedical applications for assessing lungs’ efficiency.

“LESSONS LEARNED” (PARTIAL TEST DEPLOYMENTS REPORT) : ADRIART PROJECT
Tomislav Brajnović,, Peter Purg, Daniela Brasil, Alessandro Bordina, Miljana Babić, 2014, druge monografije in druga zaključena dela

Opis: The report consist of individual test-run reports by participating teachers and consortium-level observers that gathered qualitative and quantitative data through short interviews, surveys and QA questionnaires mostly with students, but also among themselves. A joint evaluation is delivered and a “lessons learned” compendium published, offered digitally through the project’s dissemination system (mostly newsletter and website-promotion), and spread locally through the teaching communities – also partly entering the professional article as “experience report” (see next deliverable). These reports and the “lessons learned” were discussed and confirmed in the below structure at the September 2013 meeting, organised by P4. Notably, a total of three sceintific or porfessional articles were (to be) published (as separate deliverables) refereing to the lessons learned in this project, refering to the summative experience of the project.
