22. Interdisciplinary Education for Innovation is Tough, But it PaysPeter Purg, 2016, objavljeni povzetek strokovnega prispevka na konferenci (vabljeno predavanje) Opis: Radically transversal, interdisciplinary and intergenerational innovation methodologies can make the most precious aspect of education get (back) to business -- the open and eager approach to new knowledge. In this session, Peter Purg will discuss his background and experience with project “MyMachine” and its implications on the future of education and innovation. 23. Under All the Hats of Quality —- from a round table discussion among teachers, students, quality experts, policy makers…Peter Purg, Potokar Urša B., 2016, znanstveni film, znanstvena zvočna ali video publikacija Opis: This 54-minute full feature documentary and research film features, in a unique intermedia manner, the findings of a
round table, conceived and moderated by dr. pETER Purg; at the "Quality of University Teaching and Learning" international conference, Brdo pri Kranju in April 6, 2016. This video (directed and shot by P. Purg, and edited by Urša .B. Potokar) presents the issues emerging from a round table discussion among teachers, students, quality experts and policy makers from different disciplines and countries.
As a "mixed media publication", It links in with an academic article (to be) published after the conference by P. Purg, discussing the selected utterances as evidence of emerging topics in academic quality, set against a broader theoretical and policy-related argumentation. Such a mixed-media multi-layered interplay of theory and practice, between text and video, may prove that an open discussion, paired with (audio-visual) self-reflection can both articulate and confirm some crucial commitments for increasing the quality of teaching and learning.
The round-table participants mostly agreed academic quality is dependent on teaching and learning quality, while academic practice is moving towards student autonomy and agency. For that both the national and the institutional legislative framework should provide a suitable scaffolding, facilitating better progression through education stages and sustainable student-to-teacher ratios. Good contact with the employment sector remains a key challenge that affects education quality, confirming the need for a wider participation of all higher education stakeholders. 24. TRANS-NATIONAL, INTERDISCIPLINARY ENTREPRENEURSHIP MODULES IN HIGHER EDUCATION – PEDAGOGIC DREAM OR LOGISTICAL NIGHTMARE? : LESSONS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION MANAGERSRosemary Borup, Peter Purg, Dalia Rimkuniene, Vesa Hautala, Lesley Drumm, 2015, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: This abstract is based on project contributions from partners in, Lithuania, Slovenia, Finland and the UK. The members from partner countries are as follows:

- Lithuania, Vilnius Business College, Dr. D. Rimkuniiene
- Finland, University of Turku, V.Hautala

There is no lack of evidence that Europe places a high importance on entrepreneurial education:
“Europe needs more entrepreneurs, more innovation and more high-growth SMEs. This is why it is necessary to stimulate the entrepreneurial mindsets of young people. The important role of education in promoting more entrepreneurial attitudes and behaviours is now widely recognised.” [1].
“The European Commission is committed to promoting education for entrepreneurship at all levels” [2].
This paper introduces the key interim findings of the IDEATE project[3] which aims to provide a new approach to including entrepreneurial education into Higher Education programmes through the development and delivery of a trans-national, interdisciplinary module delivered through intensive learning mobilities (workshops).
This paper is written halfway through the IDEATE project, after two student mobilities, involving 16 students from 4 Universities. The students were from varying study programmes including Law, ICT, Creative arts and Bio-medicine. The paper reflects on the practical stages of the module development, and compares experiences from the 4 EU Universities[4], including the validation process, the selection of students, the development of a common syllabus and common assessment, as well as the acceptance of the module as part of the learning plan of each student. It will not include the student experience in detail as this will be analysed after the second (2016) cohort, and will be the subject of another publication. Instead it focuses on the potential benefits, enablers and barriers to HEIs working with this new pedagogic approach, and constructs some lessons learned for those managing HE provision. 25. Under All the Hats of Quality : Balancing roles and responsibilities in academic quality assurance - as (high) quality teacher, scientist/artist, institutional coordinator, curriculum creator, peer evaluator ...Peter Purg, 2016, objavljeni povzetek znanstvenega prispevka na konferenci Opis: The round table highlighted specific individual views on current trends and standards of academic quality in terms of (at least) three key roles in the study process: the coordinator, author / performer, peer evaluator... Participants confronted (often incompatible) views on these roles in terms of the quality of everyday academic practice, which on the one hand, introduces increasingly stringent and detailed standards and criteria - yet on the other rarely motivates academic staff to (consciously) achievement or development them! The round table attempted to find and compare the best practices of the criteria of transferring quality criteria into everyday practice of teaching, research and development -- thereby to identify the key points in common best practices for strategic planning of the quality system design at the level of school, programme, course, and last but not least the individual academic career. 26. Education, Outreach and Public Relations of the Pierre Auger ObservatoryCharles Timmermans, Andrej Filipčič, Gašper Kukec Mezek, Ahmed Saleh, Samo Stanič, Marta Trini, Darko Veberič, Serguei Vorobiov, Lili Yang, Danilo Zavrtanik, Marko Zavrtanik, 2015, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: The scale and scope of the physics studied at the Pierre Auger
Observatory continue to offer significant opportunities for
original outreach work. Education, outreach and public
relations of the Auger Collaboration are coordinated in a
dedicated task whose goals are to encourage and support
a wide range of efforts that link schools and the public with
the Auger scientists and the science of cosmic rays, particle
physics, and associated technologies. We focus on the impact of
the Collaboration in Mendoza Province, Argentina and beyond.
The Auger Visitor Center in Malargüe has hosted over 95,000
visitors since 2001, and a fifth Collaboration-sponsored
science fair was held on the Observatory campus in November
2014. The Rural Schools Program, which is run by Observatory
staff and which brings cosmic-ray science and infrastructure
improvements to remote schools, continues to broaden its
reach. Numerous online resources, video documentaries, and
animations of extensive air showers have been created for wide
public release. Increasingly, collaborators draw on these
resources to develop Auger related displays and outreach events
at their institutions and in public settings to disseminate the
science and successes of the Observatory worldwide. We also
highlight education and outreach activities associated with the
planned upgrade of the Observatory’s detector systems and
future physics goals. Ključne besede: Pierre Auger Observatory, cosmic rays physics, education, outreach, public relations Objavljeno v RUNG: 03.03.2016; Ogledov: 4663; Prenosov: 184 Celotno besedilo (4,12 MB) |
