1. Evaluation of France Prešeren's PoemsZoran Božič, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The paper, referring to the school selection of Prešeren's poems, deals with the problem of evaluating Prešeren's poems. When selecting literary texts for secondary school reading books, the modern literature didactics recommend giving priority to the principles of reception and literary history. A study of the evaluation criteria of three leading experts on Prešeren from the second half of the 20th century brings recognition that, in spite of significant differences between them, literary historians, above all, value formally complex and receptively demanding poems belonging to the central period of Prešeren's romanticism. Although the influence of literary-historical principle is also noticed in secondary school students, these attribute the most value to Prešeren's poems with simple forms and less demanding reception, predominantly those that have a story, are easier to understand and provide a complete experience. 2. Building the shared dimension of the rural landscape: tools, principles and methodsCaterina Groli, 2016, doktorska disertacija Opis: This research investigates the rural landscape of the lagoon of Venice and its surrounding territory focusing on the forms of exploitation of its natural resources, the transformations that occurred throughout the course of history and the consequent formation of its primary economical sector.
New economic sectors, new agricultural policies and other spatial and sectorial drivers transformed the primary sector itself which changed and adapted its productive schemes to the main economic patterns, heavily affecting the former rural asset of the landscape of the lagoon by changing its demographic, economic activities and land use practices.
The study carries out a systematic and detailed analysis of all economic, cultural and social features that have interacted and impacted this specific landscape, relying mainly on the comparison of historical and current land-use maps through three different historical spans: 1823-1840 (pre-industrialization phase), 1933-1966 (industrializing process, considered as a determining factor of the transformation of this landscape) and 2013 (present post-industrialized condition). The maps, combined with relative data, are compared with the aid of the Geographical Information System (GIS) computer software. As a result, a set of new maps has been obtained, which point out the historical landscape permanencies, defined through in situ surveys on the territory. A multitude of other archival documents from direct and indirect sources have been examined in order to build up a sound and detailed socio-economic context and the overall historical background.
Resources, goods and services provided by the rural landscape and its development are an important part of regional and EU policy instruments and also an essential factor of identity and growth for local communities. The consumption of resources, their availability and maintenance over time and accessibility through property regulations are all factors that shape the common and public dimension of the rural landscape, which represents another study challenge of this work.
This study proposes the establishment of the rural park of the lagoon of Venice, through the implementation of the multi-functional role of agriculture, for the fulfilment of two fundamental conditions of the peri-urban rurality: the need of safeguarding the landscape and its significance, by preserving the authenticity and integrity of the rural characters and the dynamism of the primary sector, which is strictly related to the survival of the rural landscape. 10. Photoacoustics - A nondestructive evaluation technique for thermal and optical characterisation of metal mirrorsSankararaman S, NAMPOORI V P N, Swapna Mohanachandran Nair Sindhu, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Photoacoustic technique has emerged as a powerful tool for nondestructive evaluation and characterization. The high signal to noise ratio, sensitivity, and the least quantity of sample required make the technique suitable for wide range of applications. The intensity modulated laser beam focused on to the sample in the photoacoustic cell generates acoustic waves. Analysis of the acoustic signal enables the measurement of thermal and optical properties of the material. In the present work, the photoacoustic technique has been extended to find the thermal diffusivity and to demonstrate how the technique can be used for measuring optical reflection coefficient of a precious metal mirror—Aranmula mirror. The mirror being metal with high reflection coefficient, it finds application in optical instrumentation. The mirror is subjected to morphological characterization by atomic force microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The elemental and structural characterizations are done by energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, X-ray dot mapping, and X-Ray diffraction analysis. The fractal dimension of the particle distribution over the surface provides information about the surface roughness. The box-counting and power spectral fractal dimensions are found to be around 1.63 and 1.65 respectively.
