A for Aurore and ambiguity : the reception of George Sand in the Slovenian literary field
Katja Mihurko, Primož Mlačnik, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The first part of the title of the article is borrowed from the afterword A for Aurora, A for Autobiography in the Slovenian translation of George Sand’s seminal work Histoire de ma vie, published by the feminist publishing house Delta, marking the bicentenary of French writer’s birth. 1 Analyzing the discourse on George Sand in the Slovenian literary field, we have observed a unique ambiguity compared to the discourse on other canonized authors and their Slovene reception. We argue that George Sand is a site of ambiguous discourse. Departing from the approaches of the renowned American historian Joan Wallach Scott, herself inspired by the Foucauldian epistemology, we are interested in how and why this discourse came into being, how the representations of George Sand were discursively established, and what contradictions are inherent in this debate.

Collaborative lessons in a cross-border space : learning each other's language, literature and history on the basis of the CoBLaLT model
Ivana Zajc, 2023, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: In the paper we propose a new paradigm for teaching literature, language and history in cross-border territories from the point of view of cross-border didactics and cross-curricular collaboration at the higher elementary school level. Based on the CoBLaLT model, we propose interdisciplinar activities for students of two cross-border classes on both sides of the Slovenian-Italian border, who, while studying picture books written in Slovenian, meet via online platforms and live. They get to know each other, learn the languages of other students, experience literature and the art of illustration, and above all experience the complex history of the area where they live.

Augmented Reality as a Medium for Connecting Real and Literary Spaces
Aleš Vaupotič, Narvika Bovcon, 2022, prispevek na konferenci brez natisa

Opis: At the border between Slovenia and Italy there are two cities, Gorizia and Nova Gorica, connected and functioning as one, or separated by conflict in different times in history. The literatures in Slovenian, Italian, German and Friulian languages have described the complex issues that have tailored the life of people of various nationalities in this region in the 20th century. In 2018 we have participated in the EDUKA 2 project that had the goal of gathering the literary works that address the problem of coexistence in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Excerpts from these works were published in two text books for secondary schools, translated in all three languages. Our part in the project was building an augmented reality literary itinerary in the provinces of Trieste and Gorizia, that connected the literary works with related geolocations. The paper will present, how the existence of people of different nationalities at the same place is articulated in literature: selected examples of poetry and novels (Pahor, Madieri, Tomizza, Rilke, Pasolini, Gradnik, ...) will be discussed. The experiences described in literature were interpreted and translated into a visual form, virtual 3-D models were built and placed at selected geolocated spots. The translation between the literary and visual form will be discussed. The user experience of our literary itinerary will be compared to the existing literary itineraries in Gorizia and Trieste, there are many, and all contain historical data, images, videos and texts related to the complexities of coexistence. Finally the medium of augmented reality will be presented considering its different types that involve the user, the space, the camera of a mobile device and a projected image on the screen in different ways. This is relevant in the time, when spatial restrictions have surfaced in an unexpected way: due to the pandemic the spaces have been separated again and the virtual messages in augmented reality are considered either as intruders in a private space in the tele-communication, or as real presences in the real space that cannot be visited.

Italian Humanist Photography from Fascism to the Cold War
Martina Caruso, znanstvena monografija

Opis: Spanning four decades of radical political and social change in Italy, this interdisciplinary study explores photography’s relationship with Italian painting, film, literature, anthropological research and international photography. Evocative and powerful, Italian social documentary photography from the 1930s to the 1960s is a rich source of cultural history, reflecting a time of dramatic change. This book shows, through a wide range of images (some published for the first time) that to fully understand the photography of this period we must take a more expansive view than scholars have applied to date, considering issues of propaganda, aesthetics, religion, national identity and international influences. By setting Italian photography against a backdrop of social documentary and giving it a distinctive place in the global history of photography, this exciting volume of original research is of interest to art historians and scholars of Italian and visual culture studies.
