3. Investigation of the potential of waste gasification systems in achieving sustainable waste management practices and exploring their potential to contribute to the circular economy : master's thesisAnđela Korać, 2024, master's thesis Abstract: Waste management is a global problem, as waste production continues to rise, and the methods used today, such as landfilling and incineration, can cause many environmental issues. Waste gasification, among other technologies, is a promising alternative since waste is turned into useful energy resources and reduces emissions with the formation of syngas. Thus, this thesis investigated the potential of waste gasification systems in sustainable waste management and circular economy. Focusing on its energy and economic potential, modeling methods were used to recreate real-world systems, with the goal of properly estimating the true sustainability potential of the waste gasification systems. Biomass gasification was evaluated through thorough thermodynamics and economic analysis. Although the initial calculations failed to provide positive results by showing the energy of 54 MJ, instead of the expected energy release, further analysis with the optimized conditions and different assumptions, provided more accurate results. By increasing the share of oxidized CO from 10% to 25%, and reducing the wet material from 35% to 10%, total released heat was estimated to be −148.9 MJ. With the right assumptions, the gasification process was proved to provide good energy values necessary for the sustainability of such a process. Additionally, the financial analysis produced a high Net Present Value (NPV) of EUR 3,434,411.46, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 21.81%, and a short payback period (PP) of 4.48 years, hence proving the strong economic potential and financial strength of such technology. Therefore, biomass waste gasification was concluded to be a positive investment opportunity with valuable long-term economic benefits, while still providing good energy balance. 6. Dreamer : live coding, algorave and the artistic exploration of dreamsLazar Mihajlović, 2024, master's thesis Abstract: Observing the developments and intersections between music, graphics, video, code and club culture in the music scene around the year 2010, primarily based in England, a new cultural movement known as ”Algorave” has emerged, reshaping the boundaries of new artistic expression. While the practices of live and creative coding had been present on the global stage for some time, the “Algorave” scene emerges as a unique blend of these artistic directions, combining various elements and offering a distinctive sound-visual artistic expression. Unlike traditional music performances, artists of this movement openly share their live coding processes with the audience, guiding them through the entire process of the performance. By utilizing live coding as the primary artistic tool and integrating it with artificial intelligence, the work Dreamer demonstrates a fusion of these two approaches. It visually explores dreams using images generated by AI technology. These images are then manipulated through live coding techniques, creating a visual narrative that is accompanied by ambient-electronic sounds. The sound complements the visual elements, achieved through the use of various synthesizers, samplings and granular synthesis, a technique that fragments sound into small grains to create complex sound textures. Beyond its practical execution, Dreamer addresses dreams as something unknown and undisclosed. It raises the question of whether dreams can be considered insights into our parallel lives, or are they merely products of our imagination? Should we explore them rather than just observe them? Based on these questions, the work examines dreams through programming and technology, seeking new possibilities for artistic expression. 7. Can you feel it : exploration of anxiety through artistic practicesTamara Kostrevc, 2024, master's thesis Abstract: Anxiety is described in psychiatry as a mental disorder that manifests itself in an unpleasant state
of excitement, tension due to a sense of threat, fear without a real external reason. This short
definition does not cover its many forms. Given that anxiety is present all over the world, and that
almost everyone experiences it nowadays, it would be necessary and important to talk more about
it. Can You Feel It is an installation that visually and sonically illustrates the levels of anxiety and
encompasses both the mental and physical changes an individual experiences. It illustrates the
battle with this psychological condition through the artistic practice of an interactive audiovisual
installation. Keywords: anxiety, interactive installation, sound elements, visuals, pulse sensor Published in RUNG: 03.10.2024; Views: 510; Downloads: 6 Full text (1,98 MB) This document has many files! More... |
Razlike so povezane predvsem z različnimi meteorološkimi razmerami. Kovine, ki smo jih proučevali, so bile baker, mangan in železo.
Katalizatorji so bili sintetizirani na Odseku za anorgansko kemijo in tehnologijo na Kemijskem inštitutu. Katalizatorje smo najprej ovrednotili z osnovnimi karakterizacijskimi metodami, kot so rentgenska difrakcija (XRD – X-Ray Diffraction), dušikova fizisorpcija in vrstična elektronska mikroskopija (SEM – Scanning Electron Microscopy).
10. Disinfection of wastewater using porous Fe2O3 thin film : master's thesisRanin M. D. Ismail, 2024, master's thesis Abstract: The contamination of water bodies by microorganisms is seen as a highly significant issue that poses a threat to human and animal well-being. The primary objective of this master thesis is to develop and evaluate an environmentally friendly photoelectrochemical (PEC) method using porous Fe₂O₃ thin films for the disinfection of wastewater. This thesis presents the novel application of porous Fe₂O₃ thin films, which were produced using a cost-effective spin-coating technique, to improve the process of PEC disinfection. The PEC approach has been demonstrated to be highly effective in disinfection of wastewaters deliberately contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The crystallinity of the Fe₂O₃ porous thin films was confirmed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), while the film morphology was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The PEC disinfection procedures were conducted in the presence of two separate electrolytes, sodium sulfite (Na₂SO₃) and sodium chloride (NaCl), which were chosen for their specific roles in improving the effectiveness of disinfection. The PEC method shown efficacy in inactivating E. coli, with 45% of the bacteria being inactivated in the presence of 2 mM Na₂SO₃ and complete inactivation achieved with 20 mM NaCl. The findings suggest that the PEC disinfection process is a highly efficient and eco-friendly technology that can be used as a practical substitute for traditional disinfection methods. As a result, it has potential applications in ensuring public safety and safeguarding the environment, particularly in relation to wastewater treatment.
