2. The thread : master's thesisAnastasija Kojić, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: This thesis explores combination and intersection of activism and art through creative project that addresses issues of gender-based violence, precisely verbal abuse. The project was done in several phases, beginning with photography. Selection and photographing model, followed up by participating in the exhibition where women and girls wrote answers to main question on printed photographs. To gain a broader perspective, three focus groups with participants of different ages were held, additionally more insights were obtained by online conversations with selected participants. Inspired by the work of Chiharu Shiota, a red thread is used in the embroidery of photographic canvases, symbolizing resilience and reclaiming identity. Final installation was displayed in a way to encourage visitors to interact with embroidered canvass. This thesis advocates the idea that art can serve as a powerful vehicle for social commentary and healing, creating a platform for voices and encouraging dialogue on key social issues. 3. Dreamer : live coding, algorave and the artistic exploration of dreamsLazar Mihajlović, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Observing the developments and intersections between music, graphics, video, code and club culture in the music scene around the year 2010, primarily based in England, a new cultural movement known as ”Algorave” has emerged, reshaping the boundaries of new artistic expression. While the practices of live and creative coding had been present on the global stage for some time, the “Algorave” scene emerges as a unique blend of these artistic directions, combining various elements and offering a distinctive sound-visual artistic expression. Unlike traditional music performances, artists of this movement openly share their live coding processes with the audience, guiding them through the entire process of the performance. By utilizing live coding as the primary artistic tool and integrating it with artificial intelligence, the work Dreamer demonstrates a fusion of these two approaches. It visually explores dreams using images generated by AI technology. These images are then manipulated through live coding techniques, creating a visual narrative that is accompanied by ambient-electronic sounds. The sound complements the visual elements, achieved through the use of various synthesizers, samplings and granular synthesis, a technique that fragments sound into small grains to create complex sound textures. Beyond its practical execution, Dreamer addresses dreams as something unknown and undisclosed. It raises the question of whether dreams can be considered insights into our parallel lives, or are they merely products of our imagination? Should we explore them rather than just observe them? Based on these questions, the work examines dreams through programming and technology, seeking new possibilities for artistic expression. 4. Can you feel it : exploration of anxiety through artistic practicesTamara Kostrevc, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Anxiety is described in psychiatry as a mental disorder that manifests itself in an unpleasant state
of excitement, tension due to a sense of threat, fear without a real external reason. This short
definition does not cover its many forms. Given that anxiety is present all over the world, and that
almost everyone experiences it nowadays, it would be necessary and important to talk more about
it. Can You Feel It is an installation that visually and sonically illustrates the levels of anxiety and
encompasses both the mental and physical changes an individual experiences. It illustrates the
battle with this psychological condition through the artistic practice of an interactive audiovisual
installation. Ključne besede: anxiety, interactive installation, sound elements, visuals, pulse sensor Objavljeno v RUNG: 03.10.2024; Ogledov: 442; Prenosov: 6 Celotno besedilo (1,98 MB) Gradivo ima več datotek! Več... |
5. Borderless aeasthetics : the new uglySandra Jovanovska, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Through the lens of ugliness, the purpose of this Master’s thesis is to explore a potential model of a new unrestricted aesthetics. I, hereby, refer to an aesthetics beyond its canonical order, an individualistically-driven scheme of standards or perhaps no standards at all. All can be simplified with Eco’s quote on the opposition of the beautiful and the ugly: ’A beautiful nose shouldn’t be longer than that or shorter than that, on the contrary, an ugly nose can be as long as the one of Pinocchio, or as big as the trunk of an elephant, or like the beak of an eagle, and so ugliness is unpredictable, and offers an infinite range of possibility’. While the aesthetics of beauty has already positioned framework of rules in regards to proportion, symmetry, and harmony, the aesthetics of ugliness has no particular guidelines and limitations whatsoever. Unlike the beautiful, what we perceive as ugly doesn’t have its lawfulness, because for a long time in the history of art, ugliness was just the opposite face of beauty. As a consequence, the ugly embodies a big category of undetermined standards in visual arts and culture, which leads to it becoming a large unmapped territory of boundless autonomy. The ugly is in that context the key to facing and unleashing our phenomenological fears of bleak dark deformed realities that lie unchallenged and unaddressed on account of ugliness’ taboo status. Thus, when familiarised, I believe ugliness in art has a powerful impact, a quality that we have to yet begin to understand to get a full image of ourselves, for if we rely on beauty, as we did for such a long time in history, we are depriving ourselves of a true holistic proportion in art. 8. European Film Co-productions with a Focus on Southeastern EuropeBoris Matić, 2022, magistrsko delo Opis: In this master thesis I shall deal with European film co-productions with an emphasis on the functioning of this form of film production in 6 countries of Southeast Europe. Starting from
defining the concept of co-productions and their types, short history, agreements that provide the legal framework for their establishment all the way to sources of funding from European
public national and supranational funds, broadcasters and production incentive systems. In other words, in this thesis I explain how this joint production adventure works in Europe, as
well as in the surrounding countries where I myself work as a film producer. The starting point of the paper is that the authors and producers hail from countries with low audiovisual capacity,
and due to high film production prices and lack of funding sources in these countries, they are almost forced to turn to international co-productions for more ambitious film projects. Through
the analysis and production study of Father, I speak about the application of the co-production model in filmmaking and the use of almost all types of available European sources of financial
closure, which is a successful example of cooperation between producers and filmmakers and collaborators from several European countries. In the practical part of my master’s thesis, I
briefly deal with the making of my short fiction film Thursday. 9. Magistrsko delo izpostavi filme skozi desetletja in dogodke gejevskega gibanja z namenom kontekstualiziranja reprezentacije skupnosti v njenem družbeno-političnem presečišču.
V svojem drugem delu avtorica razloži ustvarjalni proces filma (s)election, ki predstavlja praktični del magistrske naloge. Na koncu se oba dela povežeta. 10. Winning wars with films : (storytelling for artistic activism)Sagar Gahatraj, 2021, magistrsko delo Opis: This study mainly examines the prospect of utilizing the power of cinema to resolve
humans’ conflicts. The research begins by analysing the psychology of human brain;
how human brain functions, how belief systems are created, and most importantly, what
is the cause of human disputes. The thesis then investigates the possibilities and pattern of psychological change. After uncovering how psychological change works, the
research paper dives into comparing human psychology with the psychology of storytelling. The findings from this comparison are used to determine if storytelling can induce psychological change. At this point, the study is confronted by historical evidences, where the power of storytelling was exploited to control and manipulate people. However, upon further investigation on this issue, the duel power of storytelling is discovered, which suggest that story can be both propaganda and cure for propaganda.
With these findings in hand, the research continues on its main pursuit; finding out if
films can resolve conflicts. To do so, the thesis presents the history of film-making and
its association with storytelling from its beginning. The research also looks into the
power of film-making, and question if the power of film-making can be combined with
the power of storytelling for artistic activism. The first part of thesis concludes by
summarizing the findings of the study. The second part of the thesis analyses a short
film, In The Nation Of Car Lovers, which was a practical part of the Master’s thesis.
Finally, the thesis concludes by comparing the findings of the theoretical part to its
utilization in the practical part of the thesis. Ključne besede: Human Brain, Psychological change, Storytelling, Propaganda, Film-making, Activism Objavljeno v RUNG: 13.10.2021; Ogledov: 3660; Prenosov: 131 Povezava na celotno besedilo Gradivo ima več datotek! Več... |
