Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo raziskovali prisotnost odraslih samcev domačega vrabca (Passer domesticus Linnaeus, 1758) in italijanskega vrabca (Passer italiae Vieillot, 1817) ter križancev po naseljih v Vipavski dolini.

Title:Italian sparrow (Passer italiae) in Vipava valley
Abstract:In this thesis, we investigated the presence of adult males of domestic sparrow (Passer domesticus Linnaeus, 1758) and Italian sparrow (Passer italiae Vieillot, 1817) and hybrids in settlements in the Vipava valley. We were primarily interested in the current status of Italian sparrows in the Vipava valley. Using literature data, we estimated also population trend of this species. We found that the proportion of adult males of Italian sparrow compared with adult males of house sparrow is declining in settlements of Vipava valley from west to east, and that the trend of the population expansion of Italian sparrows in the Vipava valley has stabilized. We have also come to the conclusion that the domestic and Italian sparrows do not show a preference in their choice of farm or urban buildings.
