Title:How can artists learn to work with business: : the cases of MyMachine and IDEATE.me
Abstract:The keynote to the international conference on Arts and Creativity for Competitiveness" revolves around the question on how the creativity (of youth) can be transformed into culture-based innovation, and how can such synergy be translated into development outcomes and entrepreneurship. The answer is sought along the lines of projects combining the artistic fields with other creative-industry realms, and particularly engineering and other high-tech domains. The Knowledge-Alliances IDEATE (Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurial Application for Transforming Education in High Technologies, 2013-16) project developed entrepreneurial behavior with both staff and students in selected high-tech subject domains of higher education through the use of innovative teaching methods which to encourage university-business cooperation. While MyMachine (2014-16) developed inter-generational collaboration on innovative ideas and linked it to the industry, raising design&production awareness and stimulating entrepreneurial and out-of-the-box thinking, with pupils, students, teachers, and the industry, across the educational vertical. Not least, the EMINDS project shows how entrepreneurial competencies (have to) change constantly.
Keywords:creativity, art, business, interdisciplinarity, management, entrepreneurship, creative industries.
