Z analizo življenjskega cikla produkta (LCA) smo ovrednotili okoljski vpliv treh decentraliziranih sistemov: sistem Sanbox z rastlinsko čistilno napravo (RČN), sekvenčni šaržni reaktor (SBR) in kompostno stranišče.

Title:Wastewater treatments in protected natural heritage areas in Slovenia: current status and perspectives
Abstract:Various systems are available for wastewater treatment and they also have different environmental footprints. This thesis was focused on the wastewater treatment in protected natural heritage areas in Slovenian Alpine region and highlands, using various decentralised systems. Three decentralised systems were evaluated using Life Cycle Assessment Analysis (LCA): the Sanbox system with the constructed wetlands (RČN), Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) and composting toilet. We compared production and operation phase of Sanbox + RČN and SBR system and found out that the Sanbox + RČN has a significantly greater impact in all impact categories than the SBR system. The composting toilet was not included in the comparison because it does not produce wastewater. Nevertheless, the LCA analysis revealed that this issue is poorly controlled and requires more attention. As an example, we analysed the environmental impact of mountain huts located in Slovenian Alpine region and highlands. Based on the data on discharges from the wastewater treatment plants from mountain huts it was not possible to give solid conclusions about the most appropriate system to apply in such specific area due to high fluctuations of monitored parameters. We prepared a questionnaire to obtain the visitors’ opinion on sanitary facilities in mountain huts. The result pointed out that the sanitary systems in the mountain huts should be improved.
