Keywords:Western, chanbara film, kavboji, samuraji, Japonska, Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, filmska industrija.

Title:THE GENRE OF WILD WEST AND EAST
Abstract:The genres of westerns and chanbara films originate from two different parts of the world and most viewers do not realise that they were quite interlinked in the development of their present-day structure and appeal. Ever since they started importing films to Japan, their film industry has been closely following westerns, and after the American occupation, they completely adopted their style of filmmaking. Westerns have inspired artists like Akira Kurosawa and chanbara films have inspired artists like Sergio Leone. Over the years, both genres have found their way into more recent films and other media such as video games, extending their popularity into the modern technological age. We can also detect some elements of both genres (not applied directly but more as an inspiration) in my own diploma fiction film.
Keywords:Westerns, chanbara film, cowboys, samurai, Japan, Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, film industry.
