Title:Salamander : diplomsko delo
Abstract:This diploma thesis describes the process of creating a student puppet stop-motion animated film and discusses the challenges and obstacles that can arise when working on such project. At the same time, due to the film's theme, it explores the theme of alcohol and alcoholism in film and animation. The work on the animated film titled Salamander is presented through personal reflection, detailing the entire process of creating the animated film. By exploring the literature on alcohol in the film industry, the animation, which also deals with the theme of alcoholism, connects to and is compared with other films on the same topic. The findings of the diploma thesis suggest that working on a stop-motion animated film in such circumstances is an extremely demanding task with numerous challenges. However, it also provides valuable experiences and knowledge that would be difficult to gain otherwise, while also offering the opportunity to collaborate with many different people working in various fields. Alcoholism in film has been an often-used theme since the very beginning, with the motif of alcohol being extremely common. Films on this topic are mostly divided into mocking slapstick comedies about drunkenness and socially critical dramas with a suffering protagonist. With the film Salamander, I attempted to capture the balance between these two sides. The purpose of this thesis is to accurately depict the process of creating a stop-motion puppet film at a student level, with the hope that the work will be useful as a guide for other students and animators, while also raising awareness about the influence of alcohol on the film industry, the viewers, and its consequences.
