Non-Singular Method of Fundamental Solutions for Two-dimensional Thermoelasticity

Opis: A framework for simulation of thermomechanical processing of microstructures by the method of fundamental solutions, free of artificial boundary, is shown. The formulation of the method for two-dimensional thermal and mechanical models is presented. In particular, the formulation for thermo-elastic problems is discussed. In the thermal and mechanical models, the concentrated point sources are replaced by the distributed sources over the sphere around the singularity to regularize the singularities and the balance of forces is used to calculate some of the otherwise singular diagonal coefficients. This procedure enables also for solving problems with internal voids and inclusions. The novel boundary meshless method has been assessed by comparison with MFS and analytical solution. The method is easy to code, accurate, and efficient.

ASSESSMENT OF THE FEASIBILITY OF A MOBILE APP AIMED FOR THE PROMOTION OF A COMPANY

Opis: For a newly established company, one of the most important issues is to promote its own products and/or services. How to survive among many competitors is a problem, which is worthy of attention. With the popularity of mobile devices, the networks, information and digital society has been established, where global e-commerce has been improved and developed. In this society, for a new company it is highly desirable to use e-commerce promotion methods, which include making a mobile application. However, there is still an open question whether a mobile app can be used as an efficient e-commerce promotion method. In this thesis first an app has been developed for connecting the users and suppliers of musical instruments. All the users are able to share their homemade videos while playing musical instruments and exchange thoughts with all the users. At the same time, all the musical instruments related products can be merchandized between the users and merchant. Then we addressed two issues after the app has been tested: 1. For a startup, is it worth developing a product-related app? 2. In the process of using the app, what kind of attitude is the user taking on the internal product advertisement? An experiment has been set up in which 30 participants were randomly selected. Their behavior has been monitored for one month and the obtained data have been analyzed. The main result of the analysis is that 70% of the participants believe that developing an app brings certain benefit to the company. The remaining 30% of the participants think that they would love to continue to use the app after the experiment. At the same time, they have a certain interest in product advertising in the app.

Heart rate variability and nonlinear dynamic analysis in patients with stress-induced cardiomyopathy

Opis: Complexity-based analyses may quantify abnormalities in heart rate variability (HRV). The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and prognostic significances of dynamic HRV changes in patients with stress-induced cardiomyopathy Takotsubo syndrome (TS) by means of linear and nonlinear analysis. Patients with TS were included in study after complete noninvasive and invasive cardiovascular diagnostic evaluation and compared to an age and gender matched control group of healthy subjects. Series of R–R interval and of ST–T interval values were obtained from 24-h ECG recordings after digital sampling. HRV analysis was performed by ‘range rescaled analysis’ to determine the Hurst exponent, by detrended fluctuation analysis to quantify fractal longrange correlation properties, and by approximate entropy to assess time-series predictability. Short- and long-term fractal-scaling exponents were significantly higher in patients with TS in acute phases, opposite to lower approximate entropy and Hurst exponent, but all variables normalized in a few weeks. Dynamic HRV analysis allows assessing changes in complexity features of HRV in TS patients during the acute stage, and to monitor recovery after treatment, thus complementing traditional ECG and clinically analysis.

Bum bum nad Avčami

Opis: Dne 31. marca 1908. Movrnov boršt, dobre pol ure hoje iz Avč proti Banjšicam. Hladno spomladansko jutro, a napoveduje se jasen, sončen dan. Janez Kolenc iz Gorenjega Avščka ima opravke v gozdu in s seboj je vzel šestletnega sina, da tudi njega vzgoji v pridnega delavca. Ura je 8.45. Nenadoma zasliši močno šumenje in žvižganje, ozira se okrog, a ne vidi nič. Šum narašča in traja, traja. Preplašeni sinek se stisne k očetu. Nenadoma nekaj trešči v drevo, kakšnih štirideset metrov v blagem bregu pod njim, in Janez opazi pet centimetrov debelo vejo, ki se hrešče odlomi, v bližini jablane pa se vzdigne oblaček prahu. Kolenc je radoveden, a boji se približati drevesu, tudi zaradi na smrt prestrašenega otroka, ki ga priganja, naj odideta domov. Skrbni oče posluša sina, a doma mu radovednost ne da miru. Popoldne poišče bližnjega prijatelja, s katerim sta bila skupaj v vojski, in nemudoma pohitita v Boršte. Ob jablani najdeta jamico, obkroženo z ožganim listjem, in začneta kopati. Trideset centimetrov globoko ju čaka presenečenje: svetleč kovinski predmet, podoben ledvički, dolg za ped in težak dober kilogram. Skrbno ga zavijeta, spravita v malho in pohitita v Avče.

A method for quantification of mineral dust in air based on optical absorption of particles concentrated by a virtual impactor and a device performing the said method

Opis: The present invention belongs to the field of devices and methods for measurement of particle concentration, more precisely to the field of devices and methods for quantification of particles based on their physical characteristics, especially with the use of optical means. The invention relates to a method for determination of ambient mineral dust concentration based on optical absorption of particles concentrated by a virtual impactor as well as a device performing the said method. The method comprises the following steps:- Sampling air samples with particle size smaller than 1 µm (PM1) and sampling air samples with particle size up to 10 µm;- Concentrating the samples with particle sizes up to 10 µm with a virtual impactor;- Measuring optical absorption of collected samples at least one wavelength from UV to IR spectre, preferably from 370 to 950 nm, most preferably at 370 nm;- Subtracting the absorption of the samples with particle size smaller than 1 µm from the absorption of the sample concentrated by the virtual impactor.
