Best of interviews: Prof. Peter Purg

Abstract: Semi-structured interviews with grantees and successful CEEPUS network coordinators have done via skype or telephone. The interview partners have been selected by the National CEEPUS Offices (NCOs) and the Secretary General of CEEPUS. The “best of” of the interviews are presented in the document at hand. The provided material can be used as basis for promotion (e.g. for a brochure or for the CEEPUS web-page) to highlight successful CEEPUS cases. Furthermore, based on the analyses, further recommendations are given on how to reach a better visibility of CEEPUS outcomes and impact.

Performiranje urbanih medijskih ekologija (Performing Urban Media Ecologies)

Abstract: Kako se vrše (ne)upotrebe gradskog javnog prostora? Prema čijim potrebama, kakvim motivacijama, relacijama snaga, dominaciji kodova i(li) kanala? Koje umjetničke i(li) građanske mogućnosti (i)li nužnosti otvaraju se, ako grad promatramo i(li) poremećujemo iz ekološke perspektive? Intenzivna radiona pod vodstvom dr. pETER(a)Purg(a) kombinira medijsko-umjetničke i performativne koncepte i prakse na pozadini ekološke paradigme (modela?), koju prenosi na javni urbani prostor. Tražiti će se načini svežeg promatranja i performativne intervencije u javni urbani prostor kao ekosistem. Umjetnička refleksija i upotreba novih (pa i starih) tehnologija na poremečujuči (disruptiuvni način) manifestirati će se u kratkim radovima, koji će biti na kraju predstavljeni bilo na specifičnim gradskim lokacijama ili unutar zidova Akademije ; bilo u konceptualnoj, prototipnoj ili krajnjem-javnom obliku. Svi radovi će biti arhivirani online sa kratkim video-dokumentacijama te tekstualnim refleksijama.

"art@blackbox.edu" : Participative (performance) Lecture

Abstract: The question about the role of art in education, but also vice versa, will be asked along the line of some key insights, resulting from a decade of studying, experimenting with and questioning of art pedagogy, in particular within the new-media or intermedia realms. Of course such an insight cannot be straightforward, and is essentially unreliable. How can we think art, and practice art in the educational domain? How can we look inside this black box and outside of it? An intelligent view will only mediate what it sees – white on black, on the screen, online. The lecture will be delivered to participants for their participation.

The DreamTogether Machine : The DreamTogether Machine

Abstract: The DreamTogether Machine (2016) was a migrating ideation event, supported by Gruentaler9 (Teena Lange), The Space Berlin (Rawan Hourani, Issa Khatib), the IDEATE.me project (co-fin. by European Commission), inspired by the FEI "Transformation Through Innovation" conference and MyMachneGlobal;moderated by pETER Purg of University of Nova Gorica, School of Arts, on October 6, 18 - 21h, at Gruentaler9, Berlin, Germany. A dozen of MachineDreamers -- mixed between the most propulsive innovators from the West, and the most promising young immigrants from the East -- Together drafted Machines, such as they dream of! And then, they might even come true... The event was directly linked to the presentation of Peter Purg at the 10th FEI (Front End of Innovation) Conference in Berlin, Germany (same day 12:15 - 13:00, at which hi-profile (creative) industry representatives have chosen to take part in "The Dream Together Machine" event (same day 18:00 - 21:00).

About Time
Una Rebić, 2016, master's thesis

Abstract: The practical work of my master project about time was carried out as processbased experiments in practice. As a result, the thesis is a combination of theoretical research taken from several fields—examining the notion of time from perspective of psychology, sociology, science and spirituality. Alongside mentioned research the thesis pairs artistic practices associated with each field discussed— considering most significant artist and his/her practice or project(s) in which they explore time. The third layer of the thesis pairs each section with my own personal practice through experiments carried out in the process—each exploring time from a different perspective. Since the thesis is the final project of the study developed within a certain time frame, the last chapter discusses how I approached this project in regard to my artistic practice.

Under All the Hats of Quality —- from a round table discussion among teachers, students, quality experts, policy makers…

Abstract: This 54-minute full feature documentary and research film features, in a unique intermedia manner, the findings of a round table, conceived and moderated by dr. pETER Purg; at the "Quality of University Teaching and Learning" international conference, Brdo pri Kranju in April 6, 2016. This video (directed and shot by P. Purg, and edited by Urša .B. Potokar) presents the issues emerging from a round table discussion among teachers, students, quality experts and policy makers from different disciplines and countries. As a "mixed media publication", It links in with an academic article (to be) published after the conference by P. Purg, discussing the selected utterances as evidence of emerging topics in academic quality, set against a broader theoretical and policy-related argumentation. Such a mixed-media multi-layered interplay of theory and practice, between text and video, may prove that an open discussion, paired with (audio-visual) self-reflection can both articulate and confirm some crucial commitments for increasing the quality of teaching and learning. The round-table participants mostly agreed academic quality is dependent on teaching and learning quality, while academic practice is moving towards student autonomy and agency. For that both the national and the institutional legislative framework should provide a suitable scaffolding, facilitating better progression through education stages and sustainable student-to-teacher ratios. Good contact with the employment sector remains a key challenge that affects education quality, confirming the need for a wider participation of all higher education stakeholders.

Abstract: An online video album of currently (2016, after the first gathering phase of 2 years) a dozen of short videos of either 1, 2 or 3-minute length. Each couple of months another "videostare" is added. The videos are all single-shot, no editing, recorded -- by pETER Purg, the author -- with mobile phone, when staring at phenomena.
