Title:The Impact of Agricultural Practices on Grassland Birds
Abstract:The purpose of this study was to research the impact of different agricultural practices on populations of the selected grassland bird species. We mainly focused on time when the first mowing appears. Besides that, we also monitored the rate of increase in the proportion of mown areas and the speed of grass growth. We conducted fieldwork on the ten selected areas of the Dinaric region in Slovenia. The areas were selected at locations at which annual bird monitorings are performed. Based on the collected data we found out that higher abundance of birds was registered in areas where mown season started later, progress was slow, and finally the percentage of mown areas at the end of nesting season represented less than 50% of the whole area.
