Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava ujemalne vzorce v primerih koordinacije z veznikom in.

Title:Grammatical Category of Number in Agreement: Dual in the Case of Coordination : Master's Thesis
Abstract:This thesis argues for the presence of different agreement patterns in the case of and-coordination, based upon an investigation carried out among 50 speakers of Slovenian dialects where dual forms are regularly used. Respondents included in the research submitted their grammaticality judgements of pre-set cases of coordination via online questionnaire. The results confirm the existence of various agreement patterns, albeit to varying extents. Furthermore, it is pointed out that there is a connection between number and gender features, where the former show a somehow greater impact on the choice of acceptable agreement strategy than the latter. Examples used in the research are based on dual (noun) forms with different number and gender combinations present. On the basis of the examples mentioned it is shown that dual forms depend also on relative markedness of dual in comparison with singular and plural.
