We present the results of the reverberation monitoring of the Mg II broad line and Fe II pseudocontinuum for the luminous quasar CTS C30.10 (z = 0.90052) with the Southern African Large Telescope in 2012–2021.
Aims. We aimed at disentangling the Mg II and UV Fe II variability and the first measurement of UV Fe II time delay for a distant quasar.
Methods. We used several methods for the time-delay measurements and determined the Fe II and Mg II time delays. We also performed a wavelength-resolved time delay study for a combination of Mg II and Fe II in the 2700–2900 Å rest-frame wavelength range.
Results. We obtain a time delay for Mg II of 275.5−19.5+12.4 days in the rest frame, and we have two possible solutions of 270.0−25.3+13.8 days and 180.3−30.0+26.6 in the rest frame for Fe II. Combining this result with the old measurement of Fe II UV time delay for NGC 5548, we discuss for first time the radius-luminosity relation for UV Fe II with the slope consistent with 0.5 within the uncertainties.
Conclusions. Because the Fe II time delay has a shorter time-delay component but the lines are narrower than Mg II, we propose that the line-delay measurement is biased toward the part of the broad line region (BLR) facing the observer. The bulk of the Fe II emission may arise from the more distant BLR region, however, the region that is shielded from the observer. Selenium affects mercury ligand environment in terrestrial food chain – a XAS studyKatarina Vogel Mikuš, Alojz Kodre, Iztok Arčon, Anja Kavčič, 2022, published scientific conference contribution abstract Abstract: Selenium (Se) supplied in inorganic form (as selenate or selenite) was shown to decrease mercury (Hg) toxicity by forming HgSe in soils as well as in animal and human tissues, while for plants there is no evidence of Hg-Se complexation. Although Se in not an essential element for plants it was shown to counteract various abiotic stresses when applied at trace amounts. The aim of this work was therefore to study physiological responses and Hg speciation in plant/ fungi-animal food chain. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and porcini mushrooms (Boletus edulis) were taken as model plant/ fungal species and Spanish slug (Arion vulgaris) as a model animal species. The plants, fed to the slugs, were grown in HgCl2 contaminated soil or soil from the vicinity of Hg mine in Idrija with traces of HgS and methyl Hg). Physiological parameters of plants and slugs were monitored during the experiment. At the end the biological material was frozen in LN2 and freeze dried. Hg L3-edge (12284 eV) XANES and EXAFS spectra of the biological samples and standards were measured at liquid helium temperature in fluorescence detection mode at the BM30B beamline of the ESRF synchrotron in Grenoble, using the 30-segment germanium solid state detector [1]. The results showed that addition of Se alleviated Hg toxic effects in the food chain started at HgCl2-contaminated soil, while for the soil from Idrija, containing low amounts of highly toxic methyl-Hg, the beneficial effect was less prominent [2]. No Hg-Se complexes were detected in plants, while in mushrooms and slugs the complexation was confirmed. Addition of Se to the plants, however, changed Hg ligand environment in plant tissues from sulphur to nitrogen ligands. Hg and Se both target the -SH functional groups in the plant tissues, so toxic effects of Hg are rather enhanced than alleviated by addition of Se. Nevertheless, the addition of Se to the plants is beneficial for higher trophic levels and lowers Hg toxicity for the primary consumers, the slugs. 6. Gib in teloAnja Paternoster, 2022, undergraduate thesis Abstract: Pričujoče diplomsko delo je razdeljeno na dva dela. V prvem delu bomo raziskali pomen giba, njegovo definicijo in deljenje gibov glede na dele telesa.
Zatem se bomo posvetili gibu v gledališču in se vrnili na začetek, ko igra še ni obstajala. Omenili bomo Tepsisa, tako imenovanega prvega igralca. Temu bo sledila primerjava gledališke in filmske igre. Sprva bomo primerjali sam medij, kako se sporočilo, ki ga igralci uprizorijo, širi do gledalcev. Nato pa bomo primerjali omenjeni igri ter na kaj vse morajo biti igralci pripravljeni med samo izvedbo akcije.
V delu, ki je namenjen filmu, bomo usmerili pozornost tudi na odnos kamere in igralca. Definirali bomo tri poglede: pogled kamere, pogled gledalca in medsebojni pogled igralcev, kot tudi subjektivni pogled, ki je kameri in igralcu do neke mere skupen.
Po omembi filmskih planov bomo prešli na gib v animaciji. Začeli bomo s kratko predstavitvijo ter tudi predstavili dve tehniki: lutkovno animacijo in piksilacijo. Raziskali bomo tudi pomen tempiranja, ki je močno povezano z gibom v animaciji.
V drugem delu se bomo osredotočili na praktični del diplomskega dela, animirani film Bela, črna in prava ljubezen. To poglavje bomo razdelili na tri dele: predprodukcijo, produkcijo in postprodukcijo. Začeli bomo z idejo, kreativno platjo in nadaljevali s tehnično. Na tem mestu bomo opisali pripravo in proces snemanja. V poglavju Postprodukcija bomo podrobno govorili o montaži, barvni korekciji in ustvarjanju zvoka. Na koncu diplomskega dela bomo predstavili dosežke filma, ter navedli sodelujoče, ki so pripomogli k izdelavi animacije. 9. Obrazni izrazi v svetu animiranega filmaAnja Resman, 2020, undergraduate thesis Abstract: V tem diplomskem delu predstavljam podrobno analizo obraznih izrazov v animiranem filmu.
Najprej se sprehodimo skozi osnovno znanje in razumevanje animacije, ter poglobje spoznamo
tri večje tehnike izdelave animiranih filmov. Človeški obraz opišemo z različnimi proporci glave.
Podrobno raziščemo tudi štirinajst glavnih mišic anatomije obraza, ter jih povežemo skupaj, da
prikažemo šest osnovnih obraznih izrazov. Pri tem si pomagamo z znanjem iz medicine, ki predstavlja temelj osnovnega razumevanja. Podrobno analiziramo posamezne dele obraza, kot so oči,
veke, obrvi in usta. Sproti nadgrajujemo razumevanje njihovega medsebojnega delovanja na različnih primerih.
V zadnjem delu diplome sledimo mojemu osebnemu pristopu k izdelavi glave lutke in obraznih izrazov. Po vrstnem redu podrobno opišem celoten proces svoje izdelave obraznih izrazov za lutko Naluja.
Cilj diplomske naloge je bila podrobna analiza in razumevanje posameznih mišic, njihovega medsebojnega delovanja in sestavljanja različnih obraznih izrazov. Želela sem razumeti perspektivo opazovanja gibanja človeškega obraza, odzivnosti na določeno dogajanje, nastale posledice, kako sploh pristopiti k razumevanju obraznih izrazov in kako gibanje narediti čim bolj realistično in gledalcu nemoteče.
