Title:ANALYSIS OF WINE TOURISM AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR WINERIES OF THE WINE-GROWING ENVIRONMENT SLOVENIAN ISTRIA
Abstract:Wine tourism is an evolving field and the forecast for the future is, based on the richness of the natural territory and the high quality of wines produced, likewise promising. In the diploma thesis we present and study winemaking and viticulture in connection with tourism in Slovenia, with an emphasis on the environment of Slovenian Istria. We take a closer look at the consortium of Istrian Wines and the Vinol association, where we highlight both good practices and shortcomings. We focus on wine festivals, their importance with an emphasis on the macerated white wine festival called Orange Wine Festival Izola. We also touch on global trends in the wine industry and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on wine tourism. In the diploma thesis we present the company Vina Zaro, its beginnings and development possibilities for the future. The red thread of the diploma thesis is the search for existing good practices and trends that will help change the attitude towards wine tourism and discover new activities for its development. We are aware of the need for internationality and following the established foreign practices, but we also recognize the core of development in relation to international consumers, in local grape varieties, reinterpretation of traditional production techniques, evaluation of own cultural heritage, expansion of organic production and promotion of interaction between different tourism industries.
Keywords:wine tourism, Slovenian Istra, wine festival, winery Zaro, indigenous grapes.
